A Life That Reflects Jesus

Do you think people look at you and see you? It’s a legitimate question. I'm not talking about your good looks or your wealth. When people look at you, sure they can’t help but notice your appearance, but is that really you? Is that how you see yourself?  Are you defined by your appearance, your weight, your car? Many people find their value in comparison to others. Don’t live your life finding joy in having more than others. And the opposite is true. Don’t live a life defined by envy for all that others have.

I’d challenge you to look at your life and to see if the way you are living reflects the person you claim to be or want to be. Do people see sexual immorality, idolatry, jealousy, fits of anger, envy when they look at you? Or do they see joy, patience, goodness, kindness, self-control? The evidence of how you live is obvious to all who look close enough.  “The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.” (Luke 6:45, ESV)

Love, caring for others, empathy, honesty, integrity…choose these. Find someone who’s daily life reflects these attributes and ask them how they do it. The source for this goodness, this light, is easily found. In fact, He is already seeking you right now. Jesus Christ is not hiding, waiting for you to find Him. He is calling, right now. He can help you learn to live your life in a way that brings you close to God and to your family and friends. Nothing you have done is too bad to prevent you from becoming a New Creation in Jesus Christ.

What do you value? Who are you, really? It is a simple question. The bible tells us that you and I and everyone has incredible value. God knows the number of hairs on the heads of 7 billion people. Including you. God tells us our value is limitless, worthy of the sacrifice of Jesus. “Knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, ¹⁹ but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.” (1 Peter 1:18-19, ESV) Choose Jesus and choose to live your life following Him. He is good and He is love and He is calling.
